Directors wanted for Visit Bath

Following the completion of the term of office of a number of existing board members and the appointment of a new Executive Chair, Visit Bath is looking to appoint three new non-executive directors to serve on the Board. The company is looking for people with particular knowledge of the hotel sector, independent retail, and information technology and hopes to appoint one new director from each of these specialisms.

Visit Bath is an independent company, with its own board, wholly owned by Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an ability to look objectively at commercial issues and opportunities to make balanced judgements based on available evidence provided to support the company’s on-going transformation and the management and marketing of one of the world’s premier tourism destinations.

Expenses will be provided for this role. It is anticipated that the board will meet approximately 4-6 times a year and board members are also expected to develop strong relationships with staff and provide ad-hoc advice to the company.Screenshot 2018-10-27 at 09.09.19

Applicants must not be connected in any way to serving councilors nor have any direct links with the Council.  All applicants must carefully consider any potential conflict of interest issues either in the present or future prior to applying for consideration for this role.  This is important to the Board to protect its objectivity and develop a reputation for impartiality, and candidates will need to demonstrate at interview how they have considered and propose to address this.
