It’s Christmas!

Work gets under way next week to erect Christmas lights across Bath and North East Somerset.

Councillor Paul Myers, cabinet member for Economic and Community Regeneration, said: “For many people thecountdown to the festive season starts as soon as the Christmas lights are turned on.

“We need to ensure they are put up in good time so the work doesn’t impact other events, such as Bath’s Christmas market.

“Our contractors are part of the world’s leading festive lighting company and need to schedule the work alongside other communities across the country.  They’ll be keeping disruption to a minimum by working in the evenings.”

Hundreds of metres of cable will be installed and tens of thousands of power-saving LED lights will be used illuminate the district, including 97 lamp column mounted displays and 60 cross street displays in Bath city centre.

People will see the city lit up from 15th November to co-inside with Southgate’s enchanting winter forest and magical wardrobe installation located in the main area of the shopping centre.   It means the city will be illuminated in time for the Christmas market which runs from Thursday 22nd November to Sunday 9th December.  christmas lights
