As Bath Abbey gets down to the start of its multi-million Footprint Project to stabilise the church floor and improve facilities – some of its regular annual users have had to look elsewhere for accommodation.
With thirteen graduation ceremonies – spread over four days – the University of Bath chose instead to use the facilities on offer at the city’s iconic Theatre Royal and – from what l am hearing – there are many who enjoyed the different set-up.
Graduates and university academic staff – including the Chancellor, HRH Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex – were on the stage and parents, family and friends filled the seats in the auditorium.
My thanks to Rob Breckon – Media and PR Manager for the University of Bath – for the images l reproduce here.
It includes a shot of Bath-born comedian Bill Bailey who received an Honorary Degree for ‘his passionate support for the protection of wildlife and in his use of his celebrity in promoting support for cancer research.’
