Oh the irony of the top cycling Tour Series coming to Bath for ‘Round Six’ and the council enthusiasm for cycling in general.

Outside the same Guildhall – that bears this giant banner advertising the event on Saturday, May 20th – is an array of cycle parking hoops. Three on one side of the steps are reduced to one, and l think there may be one more missing from the array on the other side.

No effort has gone into replacing those that have gone. I think this design is a bit weak in that the holding bolts break quite easily? Maybe they unscrew??

Meanwhile in Great Pulteney Street – where Round Six of this race will start and finish – the spray guns have been busy marking – with white paint – places that need urgent filling in what is an awful road surface.

Shame on you B&NES for not getting the whole of this major tourist attraction resurfaced.

Maybe it’s a deliberate way of reducing cycling around the city. Pot holes – under two wheels – have an added impact on your suffering backside. Wish we could ‘jolt’ them into some real action to repair our roads.
