Rescue operation at Bath Lido

Been a bit noisy down at  Bath’s Cleveland Pools  just recently.

When l visited this remnant of an open-air Georgian lido beside the River Avon a pump was busy removing all the water still contained in the pool.

They need to examine the structure of this old bathing establishment – which is due for restoration – but the task involved a real rescue operation too – as Simon Smith – an ecologist from a wildlife consultancy called Simecology – explained.

Sorry about the noisy pump but it wasn’t possible  to stop things while the interview took place.
