Come face to face this week-end with everyone from Shirley Temple and Charlie Chaplin to Superman, James Bond and ET.
You’ll find them all depicted at the American Museum in Britain on Bath’s Claverton Down which opens on Saturday, March 19th with a major exhibition that will appeal to avid film fans as well as families looking for an interesting day out.

An American Toy Story has selected toys and games, going back to the 1920’s, that inspired – and were inspired by -popular films.

As well as showcasing movie props, vintage toys and memorabilia from various famous films – including James Bond, Star Wars, Snow White, Frozen and Toy Story – the chance to take part in various interactive activities including dressing up as your favourite film character.

Exhibits will include well-loved toys displayed alongside mint-condition treasures from film buffs’ collections.

The exhibition will be open from 19 March to 30 October in the Exhibition Gallery. That’s Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon to 5pm but this year the American Museum gardens and cafe will be open from 10.30 am. The museum is closed on Mondays except during August and on Bank Holidays.
