First things first. Bless you Bath Rotary Club – for you do wonderful things throughout the year for charity.
Christmas always finds you in Abbey Church Yard encouraging those in a festive mood to spare a thought – and some cash – for others for whom December darkness can just add to their gloom.

In no way am l knocking your good deeds but just wish that – whoever plans the positioning of your tree-side chalet would just bear in mind how it spoils a good shot. That’s for anyone trying to capture an atmospheric after-dark picture – looking through the Colonnade towards the twinkling tree and spot-lit Abbey beyond.
We – as a city – are still playing host to many tourists and people coming into town to spend Christmas with family or friend. Every wonderful image we can give them of Bath – at this time of the year – has got to be good for its promotion as a place with World Heritage status.

I am sure the Rotary chalet could be better placed to open up the view and just show how we are aware of the importance of sight-lines.
It’s a small matter which makes a big impact in selling our city.
Well the good news is l have an update for you!

In the meantime The Rotary Club of Bath has sent me a direct message via Twitter which says:
‘Hi Richard you are probably right but @BathRotary do not decide where the hut/Christmas chalet is placed !
We just use it for storage & a base from which to run our charity event & collect funds for AgeUK. You too can donate on-line

Happy to put that message out there!
