How does the Sir James Dyson Gallery sound?

So B&NES planners have been prevented – by a ‘no’ vote at a planning committee meeting – from installing entrance ‘sheds’ beside Pulteney Bridge and Weir.

They were meant to be access points that would have helped open up the derelict Colonnades beneath Grand Parade for commercial use.

The Council says it still intends to find a way to utilise this valuable space.

I say let the Victoria Art Gallery have it for extra galleries and a decent café – and gain entry that way.

A fairer way of letting the general public admire the unique weir-side view.

I don’t mind it being called the Sir James Dyson Gallery – for example – if it meant some successful local business person would invest in its future.

Even a poster giving the history of the weir and bridge would be better than a bare notice board on this bus-stop!

By the way – that is just an idea – this cyclonic wiz of an engineer is just a possible example out of my head!

Meanwhile, l have to say the genuine modern bus-stop – already occupying a portion of this important Grand Parade pavement and viewing point – is looking decidedly tatty.
