More information on the proposal to develop the old Harvester site at the junction of the Gloucester and London Roads at Lambridge

These are details in a planning application which has been submitted to erect what is described as ‘assisted living accommodation’ and it does look as if the existing building will be demolished with a much bigger footprint and higher buildings erected in its place.

Cllr Bryan Chalker – Independent councillor for Cambridge – is keen any building should reflect the history of the area. There was a mill – powered by water from the brook – at the top end of the site.

He is hoping the developers might utilise the waters to provide some electrical power for the new development.

We will have to wait to see how this application gets on in planning.
