Bath & North East Somerset Council is working with the police and other partners including Wiltshire Council, the Highways Agency
and First Great Western to study traffic movements in and out of Bath.
These traffic surveys on public transport, including both bus and rail, and also at road side interview survey sites will be carried out mostly in October.
They will take place on major arterial roads leading into Bath, including the A46, A4 and A36, and also on various roads across west Wiltshire.
Rail surveys will be undertaken in early November across Bath & North East Somerset Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. Roadside surveys started last week at the Odd Down Park & Ride facility.
Councillor Caroline Roberts (Lib-Dem, Newbridge), the Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We’re working very closely with the Police, Wiltshire Council and the Highways Agency to conduct roadside traffic surveys across the area.
“We’d like to thank drivers using these major road routes in and out of Bath for their patience and co-operation. The purpose of the surveys is to enable the Council’s transport officers to establish travel patterns and the potential for encouraging a change in travel mode.”
