New name wanted for Foxhill site.

Curo – developers of the former MOD site at Foxhill in Bath – are looking for help in coming up with a new name for their housing development.

The MOD site at Foxhill.
The MOD site at Foxhill.

In their on-line Foxhill Newsletter they say:

‘Since the MoD left the site at Foxhill, we’ve
been referring to the development area as ‘the former MoD
site’. While we’re keen to acknowledge that
period in the area’s history, it’s time to look forward and find a new name for the site
and the new homes that we will develop there.’

If you have an idea for a name for the new development, Curo say they would love to hear from you.

Your suggestion may reflect the history of the area, create a link between Foxhill and Combe Down or describe the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Meanwhile, Curo is working with the heritage management team at Bath Spa University and with the Museum of Bath at Work to chronicle the history of the former MoD site.
Over the summer, heritage student Claire Selman will be researching material available in local and national archives.
The new name will mark out the development as a place that lies at the heart of Combe Down and Foxhill and belongs to both communities.
Send your ideas with your name and one sentence explaining the story behind your suggestion
to foxhill@curo-group.co.uk or tweet, in 140 characters or fewer, to @FoxhillRegen by Friday 20th June.foxhill

All suggestions will be considered and the chosen name will be unveiled at the public exhibition on 11th and 12th July.
Claire’s also keen to hear from local people with memories and information about the history of the site. This work will help us develop a permanent record of the site’s history for the community.

If you have stories to share, please get in touch on 0300 123 2460, or foxhill@curo-group.co.uk

The second Public Exhibition Curo are holding for people to examine and comment upon their proposals will be Friday 11th and 12th July; 12.00-7.00pm and 10.00-4.00pm respectively at St Andrews Community Church, Hawthorn Grove, Foxhill.
