Catherine Beale, whose portrait of a local friend won an award last year at the annual Society of Women Artists competition held in Pall Mall, London, opened her latest and historical works up to the local community in an exhibition running until 2nd May 2014.

Included in the display is her oil on canvas portrait of local Peasedown councillor Sarah Bevan.

Also exhibiting is local photographer Keith Wisbey whose work can be seen online at www.kwisbeyphotography.co.uk.

Catherine was invited by Cllr Bevan during her year in office as Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset council to display her work in the Guildhall, Bath. She then asked Sarah to sit for her and the portrait was one of two chosen by The Society of Women Artists as entries to their annual competition.

The portrait includes a reference to Sarah’s Mother, a survivor of the Holocaust, in the shape of a dead fly on the window sill behind her whose legs form the Swastika symbol.

Catherine recently opened her own gallery in Widcombe Parade, Bath, and her works can be seen online at www.catherinebeale.com.
