Well the good news – this sunny Tuesday morning – is that Rebecca at the Fountain is flowing with water again. We’re talking about the 19th century Biblical statue installed by Bath’s temperance society to promote the benefits of Adam’s ale.
The pictures prove it’s not an April Fools Day joke either!
I know it’s only a trickle but it’s a sign that Bath is waking up to its duties to visually celebrate its heritage as a ‘city of flowing waters’ and let people get the message as often as possible.
More fountains in working order please.
Meanwhile l think we may be witnessing ‘over-kill’ in the public seating department – judging by the number now spread out against the north side of Bath Abbey.
Maybe it’s to let students rest their weary feet instead of queueing for the next number 18 bus?
