This year – 2014 – the Mayor of Bath’s Corps of Honorary Guides celebrates its 80th anniversary. The Corps is a group of volunteers who charge no fee in showing people around the World Heritage city of Bath. In 2013 they managed to take 37,000 people on two-hour tours.

They are out and about twice a day for 364 days of the year – and some have been giving their time for many years.
Once a year the Mayor hosts a sumptuous candle-lit dinner for the Guides at the Guildhall to say thank you.
At the event – this week – 9 long-serving guides were awarded with framed certificates and one – Audrey Woods – also received an inscribed fruit bowl for chalking up forty years as a Guide. Ten new guides also qualified during the past year.
