YouTube link to Bath’s past.

There’s a man on YouTube called Steve O’Brien who has posted what he says is an old HTV-West production he found ‘ on a decaying old VHS’ and wanted to save for posterity.

It’s a 1993 series called Dust Off – presented by my old work-mate and friend Alison Holloway – in which she dived into the Company’s archives and shared some visual gems with the viewer.

( I have to say they were well-mined archives too. I think my long-running weekly feature Looking Back was what planted the seed as far as my interest in history and heritage is concerned and which has grown into this Virtual Museum!)

But getting back to Alison’s series from 1993 and Steve’s sharing of one of the programmes. He’s chosen the one which dealt with Bath. Everything from the Buchanan tunnel in the 1970’s to the scandal over a ‘scantily-dressed’ model being photographed at the Roman Baths back in 1985!

It also features extracts from programmes by Wales’s answer to John Betjeman – Wynford Vaughan-Thomas – who also happened to be a shareholder in the Company.

There’s architectural historian Mike Jenner – who has recently brought out a book on Bath’s Georgian architecture – and local historian Martin Wainwright who was revisiting the Bath Blitz.

I have pleasure in copying that YouTube link right here! Do have a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3uM45J7jyQ
