Samba in the rain

Not the best of weathers for Bath to enjoy its annual summer carnival but well done to all those who showed true grit in braving wind and rain – and with a smile on their faces too.

P1060077Took a while to get things moving  – as people gathered at the Holbourne Museum end –  but samba drummers were soon warming the blood with their rhythmic beat.

While the carnival Rio-styled girls in feathers – and not much more – did their best to get it racing!

Leading the procession was a  red tourist bus playing a different role today.

Edited highlights for you here. Hope you enjoy.

  1. Bath used to have a marvellous carnival with big floats, which all gathered up in Vicky Park before coming down through town. I can’t remember where it finished – I should because I was in it a couple of times! The council stopped it in the late 80s for some reason which now eludes me. A great shame.
