Keynsham’s regeneration ‘up-in-the-air!’

The next opportunity for Keynsham residents to hear about the progress being made by Bath & North East Somerset Council and Willmott Dixon on the £34 million regeneration of Keynsham town centre has been announced.

On Wednesday June 26^th 2013, 6.30pm, people will be able to attend an Open Office event at Riverside some 100 feet above ground overlooking the construction site to get a once in a lifetime view of history in the making as the construction site takes place in front of their eyes.

Those who attend will also get the opportunity to:

• View a short presentation about the next construction steps for the project;
• Ask questions about the project to the construction team;
• View the contents of the 1963 Keynsham time capsule and take photos of the artefacts;
• Take photographs from the windows some 100 feet from ground level and Tweet them using the hashtag #keynregen

Councillor David Bellotti (Lib-Dem, Lyncombe), Cabinet Member for Community Resources, said, “The previous event held in April was very successful and well received by residents. Bath & North East Somerset Council wants to give the opportunity for all residents to stay informed about the progress of the regeneration, so we have set the time slightly later so that people who have work commitments during the day can more easily attend.”

The scheme includes new space for shops and restaurants, new library and One Stop Shop for local public sector services, new streets and spaces for markets and events, and low carbon sustainable Council offices. A vastly improved town centre will encourage private sector investment into Keynsham resulting in new jobs, new homes and opportunities for local people.
