Selling our city. Bath Tourism Plus out to get new business!

In a drive to encourage more high spending overseas visitors to the area, Bath Tourism Plus (BTP) in partnership with UKinbound and VisitBritain will be holding a two day ‘Discover Bath’ event at the Hilton Hotel Bath for a number of key inbound tour operators on Thursday 9th & Friday 10th May.

The event provides the perfect platform for tour operators to experience first-hand Bath and North East Somerset and to introduce them to local suppliers including accommodation providers, attractions, restaurants and tour guides at a special business-to-business workshop.

Following the workshop, the tour operators will go onto experience an exclusive tour of the Roman Baths, dinner in the Roman Baths Kitchen, a visit to Thermae Bath Spa, a walking tour of the city with Experience Bath before heading off for an afternoon at Longleat House and Safari Park.

Yet another coup for Bath Tourism Plus, this event is just the latest in series of overseas and travel trade activity: the organisation has been promoting Bath and North East Somerset at major national and international exhibitions over the past few weeks and has been working on a joint marketing campaign with bmi Regional and Bristol Airport to support a number of new direct flights from Germany now coming in to Bristol.

Chief Executive of Bath Tourism Plus, Nick Brooks Sykes stated: “Stays by overseas tourists are now worth almost £80million to the local economy, and we have set out our ambition to increase this by 12% over 3 years. With an increasing number of flights arriving into Bristol Airport and direct bus connections, Bath and the surrounding area is well placed to grow our share of inbound tourism. Working with UKInbound means that we can bring key decision makers to Bath, introduce them to local businesses and then hopefully new business deals will be made. This is all part of our plan to drive more overseas business out of London.”

UKinbound is pleased to be working with Bath Tourism Plus to host the inaugural Discover Workshop of 2013 in Bath. UKinbound Chief Executive Mary Rance announced: “We’re delighted to be bringing over 20 of our dedicated tour operator members to meet with 30 suppliers from the region, to experience the fantastic range of tourism products on offer and engage with local businesses in an afternoon of over 600 pre-scheduled appointments.”
