Let’s have a laugh

The Bath Comedy Festival is now underway, with audiences turning out in force across the city, several shows in the opening days already selling out, and over 100 shows taking place across 12 venues.

This year sees the launch of a newly redesigned, fully mobile-friendly website, making it easier than ever for audiences to browse events, discover acts, and book tickets on the go. Alongside this, the Festival has also launched its brand-new mobile app on Android, with an iOS version to follow soon.

With strong early demand and limited capacity at many venues, audiences are encouraged to book soon to avoid missing out. Strong advance ticket sales not only secure seats but also help venues and performers deliver the best possible shows.

Among this year’s highlights:

  • A new home for the Festival’s New Act Competition heats at The Belvoir Castle – a welcoming, traditional pub offering a friendly atmosphere and great value drinks, with performances in its intimate back room. The venue is also home to the much-loved Pollock’s Fish & Chips.
  • A major weekend show at Bath’s stunning art deco venue, The Forum, starring Paul Merton & Suki Webster.
  • The Festival ramps up further next week with the start of the New Act Competition heats, alongside packed programmes at venues including The Ring O Bells, The Rondo Theatre, and others across the city.
  • Daily comedy at The Jesters Comedy Club, showcasing local talent and rising stars throughout the Festival.
  • A celebration of the new national Live Comedy Day with a 12-hour comedy marathon at The Jesters Comedy Club.
  • A special performance from Terry Alderton & Friends at the long-standing Festival favourite upstairs venue at The Ring O Bells, featuring two of Bath’s most exciting emerging comedians.
  • Flagship bonkers bus tour The Wine Arts Trail (T.W.A.T.) – discovering new businesses and secret corners of Bath with a glass of wine and a ‘happening’ at each stop.

Festival Director Nick Steel said:
“It’s fantastic to see the Festival underway with such a strong start. With sell-outs already happening, we’d really encourage audiences to book ahead. This year we’ve made it much easier to explore what’s on, whether through our improved website or the new app, and something is happening every day across the city.”
