Life before Private Godfrey.

What gorgeous weather to warm today’s city-based walk down to the Rec.

I was on my way to meet Nicolas Ridley who has written a play based on the life and career of his famous father Arnold – a Bath-born actor best known to most people as ‘Private Godfrey’ of Dad’s Army fame.

Some may remember Arnold Ridley was also the author of The Ghost Train – a play and movie – actually written here in the city.

His son Nic is the author of ‘Were You Anyone Before Dad’s Army?’ which runs at The Mission Theatre from Thursday to Saturday – nightly at 7.30 pm.

It’s presented by Theatre Revival and tickets are (Adults over 18) £20 | Under 18 £15.

Here’s the conversation we had.
