Let’s talk about death?

[Dr Molly Connisbee and Albert Sobilo will be leading the cafe conversation]

I am all for cafe culture and, with my addiction to caffeine, I have been a frequent visitor to Rosarios to put the world to right over a cup of black Italian coffee.

There are many things to talk about in conversation with friends and family, but the end of your life isn’t usually one of them!

That’s when I heard about the Death Cafe – an idea born in Switzerland but quickly spreading to London and around the world.

We are not talking about a counselling session but a group get-together for the purpose of talking about the subject over food and drink.

The idea is to set aside the taboo and hold a general discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It’s all, apparently, about helping people make the most of their finite lives!

I now know that many such sessions have been held in Bath, but I was unaware of the subject until Albert Sobilo sent me a post for just such an event at Bath Central Library on Friday, March 27th, between 1 and 3 pm.

It’s free, and there’s tea, coffee and biscuits to boot.

I met up with Molly Connisbee and Albert Sobilo, the two co-organisers of this event at Bath Central Library, to find out more.
