More bollards are going in by the Roman Baths. Could Stall Street be renamed Fence Street?

The horrible fencing by the Roman Baths shop remains. It doesn’t make a good impression for our tourists, and outside one of the city’s main attractions.

The little collonaded entrance to Abbey Church Yard is also partially fenced. A bit of much-needed maintenance to its plastered ceiling?

Do you know, I am sure it would be superb public relations if notices were displayed at these sites explaining to the public (and ratepayers) exactly what is going on.

  1. Good plan Richard. The council do themselves no favours with all these fences and road works and often few men in action doing some work.

    1. Many of us would like to work the hours they do. National Grid are working in our street today. At 2 pm they downed tools and left. I’ve seen this happen on Fridays before. Meanwhile we have 3-way traffic lights, pavement and part of the roadway inaccessible and large works vehicles dumped in our street over the weekend. It was supposed to be a 2-day job and started yesterday so a full day’s work might have finished it.

  2. So much is common sense Richard.
Also would be a good idea that the top of the arch there could be covered in netting to keep all the pidgeons from defecating and damaging the stone work. A job done now would save money in the future.
