[Lucy Littlewood is the new Director of the American Museum & Gardens.]
Caught the University of Bath bus this morning, but I wasn’t heading for that academic institution adorning Claverton Down, but walking half a mile on – past Bath Dogs and Cats Home, to the American Museum & Gardens at Claverton Manor.

I was on my way to meet the museum’s new Director, Lucy Liittlewood who officially takes on her role on March 1st.
We had quite a chat about where she comes from and what lies ahead for her as she relocates, with her family, to Bath.
I found her to be very likeable, a warm, positive and enthusiastic person with a new job to do.
In addition to the permanent collection, the museum is currently hosting a spring exhibition entitled ‘Kith and Kin: the Quilts of Gee’s Bend’.

It celebrates the extraordinary work of a group of African American women from a remote river island community in Alabama, who embody a 200-year-old tradition of quilt-making.
