Pond life

I won’t be returning to Bath until tomorrow from a much needed sunshine break, but have to say it’s kind of the Communications and Marketing Department at B&NES to point me towards the latest update on the ponds at Royal Victoria Park.

Like many of you, l have taken a keen interest in discovering how talks between the authority and Wessex Water might lead to a resolution of the problem of supplying and maintaining a water supply to them.

Seems a question was asked at a recent Cabinet meeting and here is the response:

At least all the rain that has fallen on the city over the last couple of months has helped fill them but the fact they are talking about ‘pond relining’ suggests the feature is leaking.

  1. According to info I’ve read, it is the source of the water to fill the two ponds that is the issue that is unresolved and preventing any meaningful action or progress.
There has been no agreement between YTL,Wessex Water and BANES as to a new source of water that has to flow through from a spring higher up, like a stream into the Duck Pond.
The Ponds will only fill up with rainwater, of which there has been plenty and will go stagnant eventually.
Why has there been no progress or any mention of this that I am aware.
Surely YTL would donate/ waive the cost.
Is BANES holding this up for reasons/plans unknown to us , so far.
Any ideas on next steps to having a Status report on the Duck Pond, Victoria Park
