The Leader of the Lib-Dem-controlled administration of B&NES has reacted to the Secretary of State for Housing and Local Government’s decision not to call in the planning application for a new rugby stadium at the Rec.

Cllr Kevin Guy said:
“I’m pleased the Secretary of State has swiftly confirmed that the B&NES Planning Committee decision will not be called in.
“This is a huge step towards creating a world-class venue for Bath Rugby; an aspiration they and the legions of loyal fans have held for a long time, finally coming to fruition.
“This has the potential to bring economic and community benefits to the whole of B&NES and beyond.
“I’m also pleased that the Planning Committee decision included conditions to limit the impact on local residents.”
A bad day for our Rec. Commercialisation is taking over a city already topheavy with it.
