Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, has been presented with the Sir David Amess Award for MP of the Year by the Industry and Parliament Trust in Speaker’s House with Sir Lindsay Hoyle.
The IPT, a non-lobbying, independent charity that works on a cross-party basis to build engagement between MPs and UK businesses, presented Wera Hobhouse with the award in acknowledgement of her efforts and achievements this year.
The Sir David Amess award recognises outstanding understanding of the needs, challenges and opportunities facing businesses and organisations working at the frontline of delivering economic growth.
Over the past year, Wera Hobhouse has made significant contributions to business and workplaces in Bath and across the country. In October, the Bath MP saw her Worker Protection Act pass into law, which requires that employers must take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment towards their employees at work.
Wera Hobhouse has also raised the profile of several local businesses and organisations, including Moles, TONIQ gym, and Dorothy House Hospice Care, bringing their concerns to the government.
Speaking after the event, Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP, commented:
“I am honoured to have been awarded the Sir David Amess Award for MP of the Year by the Industry and Parliament Trust.
“After joining them as a trustee earlier this year, I have had the pleasure of working with many inspiring individuals working to bring business and parliament together.
“As businesses in Bath and beyond are the backbone of our economy, supporting them has always been a key priority of mine.
“To be recognised for these efforts is a real privilege. I look forward to continuing to stand up for industry in the new year.”
