A field of beautiful marigolds – as seen from our car window on our way to Madurai.
We also passed a pond full of lotus plants, which was a sight to behold.
In Madurai, we stopped at the flower market, but don’t think bunches with stalks for vases filled with water.
These are flower heads used to make garlands to give to the gods for blessings.
This market opens at 1 am and closes at 11pm. The same family will take it in turn to ‘man’ the stalls.
