A day of song

Eighteen Bath-based choirs, with over 600 singers, are coming together to raise funds for the Syrian and Turkey Earthquake Appeal.

Organised by musical director Matt Finch, they will come together at Walcot Methodist Chapel on June 10th for a ten hour Choirthon concert – starting at 12 noon.

Tickets are free for the event but because of numbers (one choir has over 100 singers!) audience members must book their free tickets in advance for each slot. There should be tickets available on the door – but just in case, please book in advance. Each singer and audience member is being asked to donate about £5 via a justgiving link, or in the buckets at the door with the aim to raise over £5000 by the end of the concert.

Matt Finch

Matt said “It’s going to be a fantastically varied day of singing – Gospel, Classical, Pop, Folk, Rock and loads more. If each choir member brings just one person and we all donate just £5, we can raise over £5000 and have a fantastic day of music making.”

Matt is very excited to have the Keynsham Music Man Project coming. They are a Music Club for Adults and Learning Disabilities. Matt hosted a number of online concerts during the pandemic and the Music Man Project always performed, sending smiles to every living room! This will be his first opportunity to work with them live. Matt will be bringing his own choir Horizons, who started singing in September, but also will be leading the Bath Light Operatic Group which he has been with for over 25 years!

The plan is to also broadcast the concert live online via his website http://www.finchmusic.co.uk, so people from anywhere across the globe can watch and all those in the choir can share with friends and relatives.
