Our regular contributor, Rob Coles, is back with photographs, and a report, on yesterday’s festivities in Combe Down which went ahead despite the weather!.
“Firs Field was again the center of a totally free community even when a “Big Picnic” was held on the Bank Holiday Monday.

With rain forecast the event was about to be cancelled when Archers Marquees generously provided a large open sided marquee which allowed the event to continue as planned no matter how hard it rained.
Although the littlelight rain was hardly noticeable the marquee was, however, much appreciated by an estimated two to three hundred picnickers A few were also brave enough to picnic outside the marquees shelter.

Additional catering was provided with a Bar b Que from The Hub, Mulberry Park and others.

Music was provided by the Fiddle and Strum duo who will also be taking part in the Party in the City, Friday 12th May at 6pm in Milsom Place.

There was a lovely atmosphere which brought the community, both very young and long-time Combe Downers, together .
The Friends of Firs Field, who organised the event, have (with their previous events) established The Firs as the centre of the community.

Once everything was cleared the rain really started!”
