New role for Bath MP

Bath’s MP, Wera Hobhouse, has been appointed as Vice Chair of the Environment All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

The group serves as a forum and convener on key environmental challenges and brings together MPs and stakeholders to drive progress on important issues.

In her new role, Ms Hobhouse – who is also the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Energy Security and Net Zero – has pledged to work tirelessly to raise ambition in Parliament on environmental challenges, drawing on her extensive knowledge of energy and climate change issues.

The Bath MP has been a leading voice on environmental issues for many years. She is also a strong advocate for sustainable transport solutions and has been a vocal critic of Government policies that fail to take environmental considerations into account.

Most recently, Mrs Hobhouse has criticised the cut to the Contracts for Difference Budget, which has long been a successful tool in boosting the renewable energy sector.

She said:

“I’m delighted to join the Environment APPG as a Vice Chair. As Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Energy Security, Net Zero and Transport, I know how important the work of the Environment APPG is as a forum and convener on the key environmental challenges. Together, we must raise ambition in Parliament.”
