University to honour local talent

Professor Ian White, Vice Chancellor & President

Bath University is launching a new ‘President’s Award’ to honour individuals who have made an exceptional and sustained contribution to the University, the city of Bath or to the region.

It will also recognise University staff members who have had a significant impact on other people’s lives whether locally, nationally, or internationally.

The ambition is that recipients of the award will serve as role models for the University community, so that their behaviour, example or achievement will inspire others and encourage the determination and discipline to achieve, even against setbacks or difficulties.

Awards will reflect the values of the University and recognise the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity.

Professor Ian White, Vice-Chancellor and President, said: “We are introducing this award as a new way of highlighting the breadth and depth of talent locally and regionally. This initiative will complement other awards the University makes, such as the conferment of honorary degrees.”

It is anticipated that the first recipients of the University of Bath President’s Awards will be celebrated at a special event held in summer 2023, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.

Nominations can be made by current or former staff members and students, members of Council or one of the University’s committees. The University warmly welcomes nominations from people outside of the University community, if supported by a member of University staff.

The deadline for the first round of nominations is 27 January 2023, although nominations can be made at any time.

Further information, including nomination criteria and how to make a nomination, can be found online.
