Our corrugated home

Time for us all to meet the new owners of the ‘Tin Tabernacle’ – that Grade 11 listed mission church at Bailbrook on the eastern side of Bath.

It arrived, in the late 19th century, as a flat-pack pile of corrugated iron and wood to be erected as a meeting place for the market gardeners in the area busy supplying fruit to a Bristol jam factory.

Theo Raithby and his partner Fay have bought the building to save it from dereliction – to the delight of the local community. They intend to make it their family home.

I went to meet them.
