That’s my home

This morning l climbed the 72 steps to the top floor flat of number 10 Royal Crescent and – once l had got my breath back – the effort was well worth it.

I was there to meet former journalist John Walker. He’s a resident at that address – one of thirty houses that, collectively, form one of Britain’s great architectural masterpieces and one of Bath’s Georgian gems.

John’s spent the last two years researching and writing a book on just a small but very important aspect of our city’s social history and he hasn’t had to journey far to do it.

You see, it’s all about the people who trod the floorboards of the house he calls home before him – as he explained.
