I have to say the new cycle lane that has been installed in Beckford Road – alongside Sydney Gardens – brings with it a big improvement in safety for us cyclists.
I come into town along the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath and exit onto Beckford Road.
Up to now our view of traffic coming down the hill has been obscured by parked vehicles. It was one of the most dangerous spots in the city.
Now new double-yellow lines have cleared away the obstruction and we can see to cycle on when the road is clear.

I agree with you that this is a great development! And the work is not completed yet, because wands will be added to make it a protected cycle lane. Paint is not protection after all.
