North East Somerset MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg has said he’d be ‘delighted’ if fracking were to go ahead in his constituency – but that’s not an opinion being supported by the local council or his neighbouring MP.
You can see their reaction elsewhere on this page. But now – adding to the opposition amid fears that drilling could disturb the flow of Bath’s famous thermal springs – is a letter that the leader of B&NES, Cllr Kevin Guy has sent to the new Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
It’s published in full below.

Rees Mogg is unbelievable. A man who thinks that it’s a good idea to actively encourage children to have easier access to sweets and chocolates at supermarket checkouts at a time when obesity in children (as well as adults) is a growing crisis and his own government has (or had ?) a strategy to try and deal with it just shows what an out of touch individual he is. The same applies to his views on fracking, and I would suspect he would oppose on-shore wind turbines as a ‘blot on the landscape’.
