Twerton recruitment day for women’s football team

 

This is something l did not know. Women’s football is the fastest-growing sport in the UK!

A fact Bath’s MP Wera Hobhouse referred to in an Early Day Motion tabled in the House of Commons, applauding Bath City Football Club who have just set up a women’s team.

The team is sponsored by Novia Financial and will play home games at Twerton Park. The club will recruit a Head Coach and are hosting a Recruitment Day at Twerton Park on 10th July for those interested in playing for Bath City Women. Commenting on the move, Wera Hobhouse MP said: 

“This is a fantastic moment for the club and I am excited to see the team come together. Bath City does some incredible work in the local community and I’m very pleased that the club is taking the steps needed to grow the future of women’s football. 

“With England hosting the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 this summer, this is an exciting year for women’s football. I wish the new team all the best in their endeavors and I will certainly come down to watch the team at Twerton Park. This is a momentous day for the football club and local community and will serve to inspire women and girls across our area to get involved in football.” 

The text of the Early Day Motion is as follows:

“That this House celebrates the launch of Bath City Women, Bath City FC’s new women’s team who will wear the famous black and white striped kit and play their home games at Twerton Park; thanks Novia Financial, a Bath-based company who will support the team as the founding sponsor; acknowledges Bath City’s proud history of women’s football, with Bath Ladies FC playing in front of 31,000 spectators at Old Trafford in 1921; reiterates its support for equality and inclusion across all sports and celebrates the rise of women’s football as the fastest growing sport in the UK; and wishes Bath City Women every success as it helps grow the women’s game.
