We’re waiting on the power people

Cllr Manda Rigby probably has enough on her plate as Cabinet member for Transport without me chasing her over the dry bowl that is the Laura Place fountain.

However, Bath’s only real fountain – in a city famed for its waters – lies within her ward as a councillor and, to her credit, she has passed on an email she received from ‘the powers that be.’

It reads: ‘All our work has been completed for some time. We are waiting for Western Power Distribution to connect the wires to the new unit.

We have chased and they are due on site imminently as they are the only organisation who can do this. We then need to test and are good to go!’

Come on Western Power – put a spark in it.

  1. ‘Don’t say, don’t say there is no water.
The fountain is there among it’s scalloped
    grey and green stones,

‘it is still there and always there
with it’s quiet song and strange power
    to spring in us,’
