A pop-up walk-in Covid-19 vaccination clinic is being held in Bath city centre this Sunday for anyone yet to have had their first or second jabs.
Held on the vaccination bus, the clinic will be situated between 42-46 Milsom Street, outside the old HSBC building, and will run on August 1 from 11am to 4pm, with a break between 1pm and 1:30pm.
The clinic will be offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Younger adults in Bath and North East Somerset who have yet to have a dose are especially encouraged to pop in and get a jab – getting the jab takes less than five minutes and it’s free.
More than 137,000 people in Bath and North East Somerset have had their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and more than 100,000 people have had both.
Becky Reynolds, Director of Public Health at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “This weekend’s Pfizer walk-in clinic is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has yet to receive either their first or second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The bus will be in an accessible location, and we encourage people across the district to come into town, grab a coffee, perhaps do a bit of shopping and, most importantly, get jabbed.
“If you’ve had a first dose, don’t delay booking or seeking your second dose, as long as there’s been an eight-week gap between doses. If you have a second dose appointment already booked that’s more than eight weeks from your first, you can cancel it and either re-book – there is plenty of capacity – or cancel and attend a walk-in clinic.”
The vaccine bus has been given special authorisation for access to Milsom Street, and to park up, to assist with the vaccination rollout.
Councillor Dine Romero, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture, said: “Currently, the uptake of first and second doses in Bath and North East Somerset is lower than both the regional south west average, and also the national average. It’s really important that we stop the spread of this virus and getting vaccinated is the best way to do that. Please come along this weekend and get your jab.”
Meanwhile, walk-in clinics are still available at Bath Racecourse on non-race days – please check for when events are being held: https://www.bath-racecourse.co.uk/whats-on/. Doses of both Pfizer and AstraZeneca are available. First bus is continuing to offer free journeys for anyone travelling to the Racecourse to be vaccinated.
