Get a blooming move on!

Just days remain to register for this year’s Bath in Bloom contest.

The organisation is inviting B&NES residents to enter their gardens, allotments, community spaces, courtyards , schools and business premises like shops and pubs for the 2021 Garden Competition .

Committee member Marian McNeir is thrilled with the response so far but would still like more people to enter – closing date is June 7th .

“ Sometimes when I encourage people to enter their gardens, they say – oh no. my garden isn’t good enough   — but I can assure you , it will be !  This is such a great way to showcase the many garden and green spaces which make our city and villages such vibrant, creative spaces. “

Marian has been a judge for 15 years and has found it one of her best experiences : “ You meet such wonderful people who really care about their environment and take such pleasure in making it a welcoming space for the enjoyment of others as well as themselves. Judging is a very humbling experience especially when you meet people who have overcome difficult times by being close to nature and their gardens. “

Community groups like the Lansdown Crescent Association have shown their support by putting the colourful posters up in their windows . Marian is very grateful for Chairman Rachael Hushon who took posters to local shops and contacted other Resident Associations – a real community effort.

Remember – closing date is Monday , June 7th with judging in July and Award Ceremony in September.
