Just this morning, an old friend from Bristol – Richard Hope Hawkins – reminded me of an event which saw me making my West End debut – introducing the Great Western Barbershop Chorus from Bristol on the stage of London’s Theatre Royal in Drury Lane.
Richard co-organised a Parkinson’s Disease benefit concert in 1989 honouring the late Terry Thomas – who sadly died from the disease – and also starring the likes of Russ Conway, Phil Collins and Eartha Kitt.
He has just chanced upon a video he made of the event – as reported by me on HTV West’s What’s On slot!
Thought l would share it. Thanks for the memory Richard.
.
Wow wow wow! Eartha Kitt, the absolute legend! What an amazing experience that must have been, as well as being in the West End! Great photo of both of you!
warm regards,
Alan
