It’s my understanding that Bath Pavilion in North Parade is being set up as a centre to administer vaccine to those over 80 in the first group to receive their first dose.
Another source tells me it’s been booked for 16 weeks starting tomorrow.
There is Blue Badge parking – and a good drop off area – with normal parking alongside.
I am not hearing of any move to suspend charges so expect to pay £1.60 an hour.
Not much to pay for Covid 19 protection l am sure many will say.
Meanwhile, several surgeries in Bath and surrounding areas have started administering a vaccine.
In the meantime residents are being asked to wait to be contacted. I am assured no one will be missed out and, while waiting – both for the first and second vaccinations – to continue to keep themselves safe.

Meanwhile, people living in the Paulton area are being urged to book themselves in for a coronavirus test at a new temporary mobile testing unit if they are experiencing any symptoms of the virus.
A temporary mobile testing unit will be set up at Paulton Rovers Football ground from Friday January 15. The MTU will be in addition to one at Odd Down P&R and the walk-in Local Testing Site at Carpenter House in Bath.
The MTU will operate each day from around 9.30am until 4pm. It has capacity to provide up to 400 tests per day, although experience of MTUs operating across the South West suggests that between 30 and 100 people are tested per day on average.
You can only get a free NHS test if at least one of the following applies:
- you have a high temperature
- you have a new, continuous cough
- you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or it’s changed
- you’re taking part in a government pilot project
- you’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive result
You can book a test for yourself or for someone you live with if one of the points above applies to them.
The MTU is only available for people who can arrive at the site in a private vehicle and who book appointments through a national online portal. Appointments can be made through: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
People without internet access can dial 119.
Councillor Rob Appleyard, cabinet member for Adult Services, said: “With the rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases this is welcome news for people living in and around Paulton and I want to say a big thank you to the club for making their site available for the unit. If anyone is concerned that they have any of the symptoms of coronavirus I would strongly urge them to book themselves in for a test
“Anyone who is experiencing symptoms is eligible for the test. It involves taking a swab of the inside of the nose and the back of the throat, using a long cotton bud.”
If you’re getting a test because you have symptoms, you and anyone you live with must self-isolate until you get your result. This also applies to anyone in your support bubble. Thank you Richard for keeping us updated; unlike the Pulteney Surgery which puts out NO information. They can text everyone to say “Don’t phone us” so they should text us to say what you are saying. They could also say that they are doing it neither by age nor alphabetically so don’t be surprised if someone younger than you already has it. I know someone who is going today to Ashton Gate but the Pavillion is round the corner and would be great!
Thanks for the information Richard. Both my wife and I were given an appointment at the Pavilion on this coming Thursday. I did ask about parking but the lady did not know. I tried several avenues for this information with out success and becoming to think is there another Pavilion ! You have solved this for me for which I thank you . Ian Guy

Hi Richard, thanks for the info My husband is 84 and has just received the nhs letter stating that he’s eligible for the vaccine. Who contacts us? Is it through our GP? We have all been told not to contact our surgery so don’t know who to ask! We know of several people in Bath who have been vaccinated who are under 80 with no health problems so we are confused! Have also heard that the racecourse will be used. Any updates would be very useful through your website and would be most appreciated by all us oldies! Many thanks,
