I like the idea of seating ‘interventions’ creeping into our city centre but wonder if the Southgate Shopping Centre could gives B&NES a lesson in colour and design.
We are a World Heritage city with a high proportion of Georgian and Victorian architecture. For me these are the wrong colour and wrong design.
l like the dark wood and bronze-like effect of the seating arrangements in Southgate.
Meanwhile, the concrete social distancing barriers recently introduced in Larkhall have been softened with a bit of planting.
We’ve gone from this….

Totally agree with you. Whoever came up with the Red Boxes?
Not so much a lesson as a reading of its own Public Realm & Movement policy which sets out the carefully researched, bespoke street furniture which was supposed to be rolled out throughout the city: . No doubt the red ones are cheaper but they’re also nastier.
