Mayor’s Guides walks suspended again.

Sad to announce that the Mayor of Bath’s Corps of Honorary Guides have decided to suspend their twice-daily free tours for the foreseeable future.

This group of nearly 90 volunteers are the current members of an organisation that has been showing locals and visitors around our World Heritage city since 1934.

The Corps Chair Joy Roberts told Bath Newseum:

“We restarted on September 14th using a booking system, but as the situation is constantly changing  and it seems very problematic at present so the committee decided to stop our walks.

It is very sad but the Mayor’s guides will continue.”

  1. Is there any mileage in self guided walks? An app that could give a commentary as people follow the standard routes? Audio recordings of the more specialist/special interest routes (medieval, Catholic, slave trade, literary, gothic, Victorian etc).
