Plans to redevelop the run down and vacant Wansdyke Business Centre in Bath’s Oldfield Park district will go online tomorrow for people to consult and comment.
Barchester Healthcare is aiming to create a high-quality 68-bedroom care home to cater for the city’s older population. The company, which also runs the Oakfield Care Home in Weston village, specialises in delivering top quality short and long-term residential care, assisted living and nursing services.
The site will provide sufficient parking for staff and visitors, and incentivised schemes to encourage public transport and vehicle-free travel.
Across the UK Barchester Healthcare has over 220 care homes and six hospitals. At the core of its ethos is the delivery of the highest quality, person-centred care whilst promoting dignity, choice and independence.
Members of the public are invited to view the proposals via an online consultation at www.wansdykeoldfieldpark.co.uk where they can also leave feedback regarding the scheme ahead of a planning application submission.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions on public gatherings, there will be no physical consultation event.
Barchester Healthcare’s proposal aims to support B&NES’ housing targets through the provision of much-needed residential accommodation whilst meeting the increasing demand for care and nursing home facilities.
If approved the scheme could create up to 68 full-time (equivalent) jobs in the city. The new care home will employ approximately 68 new staff across the spectrum. The majority of these positions will be full-time.
