School opens face mask assembly line.

A church in Bath, Somerset has opened its doors and transformed into a makeshift PPE mask production line for NHS workers.

Foldall appealed for volunteers to help assemble the masks and set up a production line within the nave of St Michaels Without church.

Today l am hearing they have received a major order and have opened a new assembly line in the sports hall at King Edward’s School to give them more room to deal with this order.

A spokesperson for Foldall told me:

‘Yes, we just moved yesterday. Everything is happening very fast.

Our aim is to reach 10,000 masks a day. We are currently still at 5000.’

  1. It’s good to see a local firm helping the NHS, but charging for their protective equipment. A group of engineering academics from the University have now made over 15,000 protective masks for the NHS and B&NES, free of charge. It is estimated that the materials cost less than 40p and public donations have covered these expenses.
