Let’s flag up the NHS!

Well during this terrible shut-down it’s good to see l might develop a sort of ‘letters to the editor’ existence – and it’s great to kick off with an email from Jim Canham.

He writes:

Dear Richard,

I’m an avid reader and supporter of BATHNEWSEUM. …it’s so informative about our lovely city.

Could I ask you to mention the new NHS flag now flying above Bath Abbey….a lovely thought for our wonderful NHS staff who are working so very hard 24/7.
Thank you, Richard.

Since you wrote Jim l have heard from Elaine Teh – who is one of the people handling publicity at the city’s parish church.

She tells me:

“We’ve changed the flag flying from the top of the Abbey Tower – it now says “Thank you NHS’ –  to join the nation to say thank you to all NHS staff, carers and key workers.
May God bless and keep safe all NHS staff, carers and key workers. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
The Abbey may be closed for the present, but like all churches in the country, we continue to offer worship and prayers and finding ways to connect with the community in different ways.

The church is the people and not the building – so though we are not able to gather together physically at the Abbey we invite you to join us remotely as we gather as the ‘body of Christ’ around a daily shared act of worship which has been specially recorded by our clergy team.”
