Happened to be in Cardiff yesterday – on business. Always a pleasure to tap into the vibrancy of Wales’s capital city – especially with Halloween upon us.

Had to chuckle while passing a hairdressing salon where the staff had dressed as Count Dracula – and the shop where a robot witch ‘greeted’ you on the way in and out!

Resisting the temptation to scoop up a tray of Welsh cakes, l popped instead into the city’s famous market and – don’t get me wrong here – l know that in Bath we have a wonderful and historic covered market AND regular markets at Green Park Station and elsewhere – but l have to say l am a bit envious of the scale, variety and energy of Cardiff’s current indoor offering which has been trading since 1891.

The city is busy preparing for Christmas with a skating rink and big wheel being readied for action from the second week-end in November.

Good to know the people of South Wales can enjoy home-grown Christmas attractions as well as always being welcome – on this side of the Bristol Channel – when visiting OUR Christmas Market!

Shame we haven’t space for a big wheel in Bath – but there is always the carousel!!??
