All through the night.

Well, it’s that time of year again. Whether you call them chalets, cabins, huts or sheds – they are busy popping up around the Abbey and Roman Baths as Christmas Market time approaches.

Working into the night to get all the ‘chalets’ erected.

Though not every local feels like embracing this annual event, there is no denying it brings in the cash – and the coaches!

I think this sign – at the Holburne end of Great Pulteney Street – might be some attempt to control where all these extra coaches end up!

I see the Abbey is holding a Community Service on Wednesday, November 21st, to celebrate the market opening.

Attended by the Mayor of Bath, Cllr Patrick Anketell-Jones, it will be followed by the switching on of the lights which will decorate the Christmas Tree in Abbey Church Yard.

Last year’s Moorland Road lights!

The Mayor will be over in Oldfield Park on Saturday, November 24th for the Moorland Road Christmas lights switch-on. He’ll be joined by Mr Jason Gardener MBE. That’s around 4.30 pm.

Lady Margaret will be switching on the Widcombe Christmas trees from 6.15 on 29th Dec, supported by a bevy of comical characters and the Widcombe Choir. Followed by Bonbon’s Christmas Cabaret at the Widcombe Social Club!

  1. Mercifully the council have decided to re-open the toilets in Avon Street drop-off point (old coach park) so Christmas shoppers can feel a sense of relief. They need to keep the toilets open once the Christmas market has finished.
