Bag a bargain.

Shoppers looking for furniture and household goods can bag a bargain at a popular reuse sale organised by Bath and North East Somerset Council.

The sale is returning, with a wide variety of recycled goods on Saturday 21 July, from 10am-12 noon at the old MOD building, next to the Recycling Centre, in Pixash Lane.

Pictured making a racket about the reuse sale are Councillor Bob Goodman, cabinet member for development and neighbourhood and Ed Welsh, Bath and North East Somerset Council Waste Services operative.

Staff at the centre have been collecting items, which are too good for recycling and can be re-used instead, ready for the sale.

Furniture, household and garden items and even a ukulele will be sold at bargain prices, starting from £5 with some given away for free.

All sales are cash, or for items costing more than £5, cards will be accepted and they must be taken away at the time of purchase.

Councillor Bob Goodman, the cabinet member for development and neighbourhood, said: “The last time we held a reuse sale it was really popular and this year we have lots of great stock. All the items were being thrown away for recycling but it seemed a real waste to let some of them go so our recycling teams have been storing all kinds of furniture and goods here at our Pixash Lane depot

“It is all part of our ongoing drive to encourage people to throw away less and recycle more, which has to be good news for our environment. I have been looking at a trial for a permanent Reuse Shop at Pixash Lane and this is helpful in assessing the viability of the scheme.”

In addition to furniture, people can buy great value bedding and perennial plants grown at Bath’s Royal Victoria Park nursery.

There will also be an opportunity to visit Bath & North East Somerset Council’s recycling roadshow at the sale to find out how to recycle more at home.

Staff will be on hand to give advice on how to reduce waste, answer recycling queries and provide free recycling containers if needed.
