New date sought for bridge push.

Got an update on when contractors might make a second attempt to push out the new prefabricated single-span bridge – built to replace the old Destructor – across the River Avon at Bath Riverside.

Crest Nicholson have issued the following statement:

“Our contractors Britannia Construction are currently awaiting approval from Bath and North East Somerset Council to agree new dates on which to move the new Destructor Bridge into place. At the present time it is not possible to reopen the towpath in the vicinity of the bridge as it is part of a construction site and the width of the towpath is temporarily restricted until the new bridge is in place.

For the latest updates please visit our website – bathwesternriverside.co.uk – and social media accounts @bwrnews / @destructorbrdg

For more information regarding the diversion people should contact Bath & North East Somerset Council.”

The first attempt went out of alignment and the structure had to be retrieved. Will let you know when l hear more.
